Goodness gracious what an eventful 2 years it’s been.
After deciding to return from my art hiatus, I got right into making things happen. I purchased my LLC, joined social media, found a manufacturer for my products, and most importantly got back into drawing. And what better inspiration to return to art than creating a custom piece for my favorite drag queen, Bob the Drag Queen?
Of course, being me, I gave myself a completely unrealistic one month deadline to finish the drawing, get it printed and framed.
The process was exactly what you'd expect after not drawing for months. My ideas changed every five minutes, the sketch evolved constantly, and just when I finally landed on something I liked; the printing mishaps began. The colors came out wrong, and after multiple printers and test runs, I finally had a piece I was proud to hand Bob - until the frame arrived and... nope. So my vision of a perfectly presented piece turned into a freshly printed, unframed drawing. Ugh.
The day of the event came and there I was, holding my art like "Don't drop it. Don't drop it." Finally get to hand it to Bob and he exclaims, "This is beautiful. Can you sign it?" Me? SIGN IT?! I was internally screaming. After all those printer meltdowns and framing fails, thee Bob the Drag Queen wanted MY signature!

But what made it all worth it, even after meeting him and taking a picture, was finding out Bob the Drag Queen took the art home. That's all I ever wanted - for someone to love something I created so much that they'd keep it with them. Year made!
